Directors are reminded that the safety of models is a priority at Kink.com and that shooting rules must be adhered to at all times. Violation of this policy is grounds for disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Production Crews are also reminded that they have the authority to stop shoots any time they see a shoot endangering a model. Any abuse of the shooting rules can be reported to both the Talent Office and the Executive Producer office with no penalty against the member responsible for the report.
Kink.com Shooting Rules
- If any participant in any scene asks the scene to be stopped due to the safety or health of the model, the scene will be stopped immediately. The scene will not continue until the health and well being of the model is established and the model has explicitly consented to continue the shoot.
- Every model and every spectator MUST have a valid ID proving they are over 18.
- NO activities involving animals participating in a sex act or in a sex scene.
- All models must be clean and sober when they arrive for work. Models under the influence of alcohol or drugs must be sent home.
- All models participating in scenes that involve exchanges of bodily fluids MUST provide proof of a clean and valid STD test no more than 30 days old.
- ALL BDSM scenes MUST be shot with a mutually understood and easily understandable safeword.
- All models must be given a safeword before the scene begins. If the model is gagged or otherwise has his/her mouth restricted, a non-verbal safeword must be agreed upon that can be communicated with the mouth restriction in place. Always have the model test the safeword before the scene begins so that you are sure both model and producer understand the signal. Upon use of the safeword, the scene MUST stop immediately. If the model is bound, ask if he/she needs to be released. The scene may continue at a less intense pace ONLY if the model explicitly agrees in a clear, concise and deliberate manner.
- Scat and Defecation are NOT permitted in any Kink.com content
- Needles are NOT permitted in Kink.com content
- Any activity that results in bleeding is NOT permitted in Kink.com content
- Vomiting is NOT permitted in Kink.com content
- Breath Play is permitted HOWEVER
- No model may be tied with rope or any other implement around the neck in such a way that the rope could inhibit breathing if the model were to fall or faint. For example, a model may be tied with her feet to a loose rope around the neck, but cannot be tied standing with a rope around her neck attached to the ceiling. The safeword rule is especially relevant, and producers must be extra attentive to signs of blue skin during breath play.
- No model or participant should be caused to lose consciousness or black out due to choking, breath play or other stimulation during a shoot. In addition, no breath play will continue for more than thirty seconds.
- A model shall NOT be caused to choke or cough due to placing an item in his/her mouth, including oral sex.
- Simulated beating that involves a closed fist or a foot with footwear (a shoe or boot) is allowed during Upperfloor freeplay among consenting non-professional adults and with prior approval of the Executive Producer ONLY. In addition, female on female and female on male or male on male simulated beating is allowed. Male on female simulated beating is prohibited with the exception of fantasy themed shoots.
- No simulated serious injuries or death.
- Simulated abductions are permitted, HOWEVER the director must clearly establish that the abduction is a fantasy of the main participant and that the act of abduction is completely consensual and entirely simulated.
- Crying scenes are subject to these Guidelines:
- If a model begins crying due to pain, the scene must stop and the model must be comforted ON CAMERA. The scene may continue at a lighter pace to avoid continued crying once the model has stopped crying, the tears are wiped away, and the model has explicitly agreed to continue.
- Tears from a forced blowjob are not acceptable. (Choking due to a forced blowjobs are also not acceptable. Please see rule #13).
- Tears from a completely voluntary blowjob are acceptable. There must be no forced aspect. i.e. no male thrusting or hair pulling or hand on the back of the head and thrusting the cock into the model's mouth.
- Tears from pleasure or orgasm are always acceptable.
- Tears from psychological aspects of play: emotional release, mind-fucking, fear play, etc. are acceptable if the top acknowledges it on camera and if the model is not experiencing pain or other duress at the time.
- Tears caused during the freeplay of consenting unpaid adults on The UpperFloor are allowed.
- Verbal references to competing companies or models are prohibited.
- Ass to mouth: Items used anally must appear clean before being used orally. No scat shown. Rimming a clean anus is not prohibited.
- NO dunking under water for more than 30 seconds at a time. Model must be allowed to recover after each dunking. The Safeword protocol must be strictly followed during dunking. Directors must get approval from Peter Acworth before doing dunking scenes in order to verify appropriate training has been taken.
- Interviews Requirement
- Every shoot must contain a pre and post shoot interview (except those listed under 'exemptions' below) The model must be in their normal character, not 'in scene', and not bound. The models should be talking in their own words and the questions should not be suggestive (i.e. "how did you feel about the shoot?" and not "you liked that didn't you?")
- Content of Interviews
- Pre-shoot Interview must establish:
- Legal Age.
- Consent. The model must explicitly consent to the activities about to take place.
- Sobriety: the model must be sober and coherent.
- Post shoot interview must:
- Establish Recovery: That the models have recovered.
- Establish Consent: That the models consented to what just took place.
- Be at least 2 minutes long.
- Exemptions. The following are exempt from all interviews:
- FM, US, NK shoots which have no bondage
- Scenes between unpaid BDSM participants
- 3rd party content
- Kinklive model casts.
- Placement of Interviews
- The pre-shoot interview should be placed at the start of the shoot and the post-shoot interview at the end. The only exemptions are below:
- Any site which focus on male submission may place both interviews at the end of the shoot.
- Shoots published in Scenes. If a shoot is published in scenes, the first scene needs the opening interview at the start, but subsequent scenes from the same shoot may place both interviews at the end.
- Shoots published in "Series" (Definition below)
- Pre-shoot interview at the start of the first update of the series
- Post interview at the end of the final shoot of the series
- "To Be Continued" inter-title should appear in the video of every shoot in the series where another episode follows to make it clear that it is part of a Series.
- Definition of "Series": This is a sequence of shoots which form a continuing story. Examples includes The Cabo Series, the shoots that constitute the training of a slave for TTOO, TUF shoots shot during the same season of TUF with the same models.
- Threats of injury or death and/or simulated use of a firearm or other lethal weapons during a bondage scene are prohibited.
- Bondage that causes a visible loss of circulation is not permitted. Body parts should not turn blue during bondage. Blue skin is a visible loss of circulation.
- Material that integrates the "Safe Word" into the dynamic of the scene; NO taunting or daring the model to use the safeword
- The model must be aware of the Safe Word as described above. The model should be periodically reminded of his/her Power to use the safeword during scene downtime, especially when the scene is intense. The Top should step out of character, comfort the model, and ask if the Model is OK and remind the model that it is OK to use the Safe Word. The Safe Word should not be used as part of the scene or ever to taunt or dare a Model.
- ANY PERSON on the set has the power to request a brief downtime to check in on a Model if they feel it is necessary. Kink.com wants to avoid the possibility that models feel pressure to not use the Safe Word when on camera
- Breath Play beyond 30 seconds is not allowed.
- Electricity used in an unsafe manner
- Electricity should not be used above the waist except as follows
- Nipple Clamps where the nipple completes the circuit (electricity passes on through the nipple, not from breast to breast or breast to other area of the body)
- Muscle stimulators attached to the lower abdominal area
- Mains powered appliances, such as the Hitachi Magic Wand, may not be used in any scene that also includes water
- TENS units used in WirePussy.com are low-voltage stimulators. Safe play requires low-voltage stimulation.
- Sexually explicit conduct cannot take place where minors might see it. Crew must be able to guarantee no minor can see the activities.
- Nobody can be exposed to sexual behavior who has not consented to witnessing it.
- Age Play Fantasy
- No dialog in the interviews or script to suggest the performer looks like a minor ("she looks like she's under 18" or "I attract men because I look like I am under 18" are both examples of unacceptable language)
- No leading questions in interviews about sexual acts performed prior to turning 18 (e.g. "describe a sexual act you did when you were < 18" is unacceptable, whereas "when did you first do X?" is ok)
- No urinating (pissing) on another person. This includes piss drinking and piss enemas, or implying that piss was used for such purposes. Pissing is otherwise acceptable (i.e. on the ground or on objects). For the purposes of this rule, Female Piss is any liquid coming out of the urethra continuously for more than 2 seconds.
- Squirting (female ejaculate which comes forcefully out of the vagina for 3 seconds or less, possibly several times in the course of an orgasm) is ok to portray, including squirting on people. No making someone drink squirt.
General Guidelines
Limits. Discuss limits beforehand. I.e. Find out if the model is ok with Breast fondling, touching of genitals, cunnilingus, spanking, nipple clamps, kissing and/or anything else you may be planning before the scene begins. Follow these limits explicitly and do not try to persuade the model to alter his/her limits after the scene has started. Try nipple clamps and the various whips/paddles you intend to use off camera before the scene.
Numbness. A model should be removed from bondage as quickly as possible if she/he complains about numbness, or loss of use of muscles. Always check a model's circulation and communicate with him/her throughout the scene. A model in subspace may not tell you if he/she is going numb.
Injuries. if a model complains of an injury and needs medical attention, have them contact HR immediately to complete Worker's Comp paperwork.
Release. The producer should estimate how long it will take to remove the model from bondage, and the model should be told this. E.g. For a complex suspension it may take 5 minutes to remove all ropes. In this case, tell the model 'It will take 5 minutes to remove this bondage, please tell me when you think you need to be released within 5 minutes.'
Marking. Models must be informed about the possibility of being marked prior to the shoot, and they must explicitly agree to being marked in a way that lasts more than a few hours. Superficial, skin level marking is OK with the permission of the model. Heavier marking beneath the skin, including blue/purple bruising should not be substantial, even if the model consents. It is understood that during freeplay between consenting non-professional adults on the Upperfloor heavier marking will take place, but this may only take place in the presence and approval of Upperfloor staff as defined by posted Upperfloor rules.
Model Paperwork. Generally, this is the Talent Manager's responsibility. If the Talent Manager is absent, this becomes the webmaster's responsibility. Please check with the Talent Manager to make sure you understand what is required.
Promotional Materials
Images
- For our BDSM sites, one smiling images must be chosen per update, no genital nudity. The model must be visibly smiling, this image should be the last image in the set (bottom right). The reason for this is that this can make the difference between a non-BDSM person perceiving our material as consensual rather than non-consensual.
- No image showing a model whose head is under water or in a sealed plastic bag may be chosen for the updates page or for the promotional images. Any exceptions have to be approved in writing by Peter Acworth
Video
For our BDSM sites, the following is required:- One smiling thumbnail per promo clip set. This must be the sixth clip.
- 6th promo clip: include 5 seconds of the final interview showing a smile. You will need to join 15 seconds of regular footage and 5 seconds of interview.
Copywriting
- The words "abduct", "abduction", "forced" and "rape" cannot be used. Additionally, the copy cannot imply actual rape or abduction. I.e. "we grabbed Betty off the street, tied her up and force-fucked her" would not be allowed, whereas "Betty got tied up and was given forced orgasms" would be ok.
Stopping a Shoot and Aftercare
The Three BsBe Aware
Be Safe
Be Present
What to look for:
Bottoming out versus SubspaceSubspace is trance-like state induced in the submissive by an increase of hormones and chemicals. In this state, the submissive starts to feel out-of-body and even ecstatic, but remains somewhat lucid and coherent. While in this state the active part of the nervous system is the sympathetic.
Subspace is characterized by the following -
- Lucid but ecstatic
- Decision making is intact, though disorganized
- Steady hands and breathing
- Tears
Bottoming out is expressed by a strong state of panic, followed by deep exhaustion, as well as incoherence for the sub. In this state the submissive feels disconnected from reality, deeply unsettled and will often hyperventilate or sob uncontrollably. While in this state the active part of the nervous system is parasympathetic.
Bottoming out is characterized by the following -
- Non-responsive - Disoriented and panicking
- Unable to make a clear decision
- Physically shaking or nauseated
- Sobbing
These are two very different physical and mental states with very different and often obvious apparent physical symptoms. Both cases require some aftercare, but Bottoming Out requires a shoot be stopped immediately and sustained aftercare take place.
Aftercare Once you've stopped a shoot, be aware of the need for aftercare. There are two different types of aftercare - Physical and Mental. Physical aftercare is relatively straightforward. Look at any welts, abrasions or open wounds for swelling or bleeding. Both heavy abrasions and cuts require immediate care including the following -
AABBCC
- Antiseptic /Antibiotic
- Analgesic
- Burn spray
- Bandage
- Compress
- Cold
Each of the above has a purpose. An antiseptic/antibiotic, like Neosporin will lesson the opportunity for infection. Neosporin with pain relief can also be used as a topical analgesic to lesson pain and speed healing. Burn sprays containing aloe vera can also help to lesson longer-term pain and speed healing.
Bandages will also minimize risks of infection and the potential for continued bleeding. Compressing the wound and introducing a cold pack will keep swelling down and speed healing.
HIC-UP
- Human Contact
- Intimacy
- Community
After physical aftercare has been administered it is important to begin to assess and recover the mental state of the sub as well. This requires immediate close human contact, including slow, steady reassuring speech and with permission, non-sexual physical contact including hugging.
Intimacy includes holding a subs hand, talking softly and reassuring them that they are safe and in the presence of people who care about them.
Long-term mental aftercare is also recommended. Most of the models at Kink.com are not members of a wider BDSM community. It is imperative that when possible we become that community. Community responsibility for the sub means staying with them when possible and checking up with them in the hours following the event to assess their overall mental health.
